Just another day you might say, well, I say that this is no ordinary day. Perhaps it just another day, the sun is shinning, the birds are singing, the neighbourhood lawnmowers are definitely working and we all have the day off our various work places. So, a typical weekend. But in just a couple of weeks school will open up for the start of another school year. People will be returning home from their vacation sites and everyone will begin their boring lives with their grumpy attitudes again. Including us.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my boring life with my grumpy attitude so much that I find humour in the ‘apparent’ boring lives of others. eg. My next door neighbour mowes his lawn ‘every weekend’, surely the lawn does not require mowing every week, surely he can occupy his time doing something (less noisy) else, but think about it, maybe he needs to get away from his nagging wife, and the furthermost (and loudest) thing he can think of to do is get out of the house and mow the lawn.
I may feel the same way about the bloke down the road who again every weekend is on his knees in his front yard finely combing the ‘weeds’ from his lawn…. I have news for him, after two years of this activity IT’S NOT WORKING as he needs to get out there again next weekend to pull more weeds. Or ‘Roundup’ the entire yard and start from scratch.
There is a kid just down the road who whatever device she is riding she will eventually fall off and hurt herself. Luckily this year her parents got her one of those new skateboard things that move in all directions. Sheeesh, she had enough trouble with the skateboard that just moved forward and backwards.
There is another neighbour who I can hear complain about the squeaking of our clothesline, so now I make sure that it is on its lowest setting to get the most ’squeek’ out of it. Yeah, it’s annoying but I like it.
There are people at work (one in particular) who don’t listen to what you have to say whilst he is barking his orders, the other day I told him to go #### himself, and he said ok well can you get on with that please. He should listen more carefully. Does management studies include a module of turning into an arsehole?
Anyway, we have been to the pictures a couple of times over the holidays, we saw Bolt which was very good and the other day we saw Bedtime Stories which was also very good. Child three wants to see Yes Man, but it doesn’t appeal to me much and we will see Igor when it comes to the cinemas. Thursdays are our cinema days…… Sounds like another clue to our predictable lives.
Child one is still working full-time, she loves it. Well I hope she likes it anyway. Child two will be 18 on Monday, wow three adults in the house.
Child three sitting next to me reading every word I write, and mumbling something about ‘grounding’ the cat cause he s**t in the veggie garden. Bloody cat.
There is terrible thumping music coming from somewhere in the neighbourhood, and a couple of helicopters buzzing around, one lawnmower and the tv is on with no sound so again I will say that this is just a typical Saturday in the suburbs.
I think we need another holiday, I think I have been bitten by the ‘I want to move to the country’ bug again and are thinking more seriously about that. I would really like to do that. Charters Towers sounds nice.
Toodles…..
